Iceland is one of those places where without even trying, you will fill up your SD card within a matter of hours. The enthralling landscape is rugged and unforgiving yet beautiful and pure.
Whether you’re travelling there on a layover, a long weekend from Europe or a longer trip, you’ll manage to see wonders unlike anywhere else on earth. Iceland has gained a lot of notoriety of late, with more and more photographers, Instagrammers and tourists flocking to see the famous sites. When we went, I must admit we saw and spoke to more tourists than Icelanders.
However, don’t let that dissuade you, the Icelandic government has put in place relatively strict rules that have ensured the landscape has remained intact, albeit slightly more crowded.
So to help you plan for your trip, I’ve listed the sites you will have certainly seen before and where they are. Some of these are far-reaching and may be more suitable to a longer trip, but are easily accessed by 2WD car. Enjoy!
The Blue Lagoon
Myvatn Geothermal Area
