Fes was one of our final stops in our two-week Moroccan trip, and by such time we had gotten a bit over the Vegetable Cous-Cous and Vegetable Tagine options we had been given in the desert camp.
So, we made an effort to seek out the best cafes and restaurants that could provide awesome vegan or vegetarian dishes.
To find these I used a combination of Happy Cow and Pinterest, but it did take some whittling down to find the gems. For this reason, I’ve put together my list of picks for Fes in case anyone else comes across the same problem, enjoy!
Possibly the first result on Google for great restaurants in Fes is Clock Cafe. We came here a number of times not only to eat but to do a bread-making course. Clock has a cafe in Fes, Marrakech and Chefchuaeon but the OG location is in Fes.I’d call their menu a combination of western with a Moroccan twist, think pancakes and eggs alongside camel burgers.
In the heart of the Medina with a 100% vegetarian menu. Glorious pasta, wraps, salads, green juices and everyone’s all-time fave – avocado toast.
A great lunch spot near the blue gate, serving veggie options in the paninis and wraps as well as a great Harira soup
If you’re game to eat Mexican in Morocco then this place will be perfect. All items on the menu are at least vegetarian, featuring classic burritos and nachos.
Maison Moi Anan
We went here for dinner one night and although it was strange having Thai food in Morocco it was very vegetarian friendly and the owner was very kind to us when we showed up without a reservation.
Short but sweet – I can’t say that the list of vegetarian and vegan cafes and restaurants in Fes is extensive, but if you are anything like me you will pick your favourites and go back multiple times!
